Scriptwriting for Radio PLays and Podcasts

Twenty-two writers embarked in January 2021 on a five-month journey to produce radio drama scripts that could potentially be broadcast on community radio and packaged as podcasts.

 

The doyen of West Australian theatre and radio drama veteran, Jenny Davis, from Perth, instructed the writers in scriptwriting for radio. Jenny returned to Esperance in March and offered individual feedback on each script. Kym ‘Bid’ Bidstrup a supported the playwrights through the process with advice from his acting experience and his technical skills, helping record and edit the scripts for broadcast along with Meredith Waters at community radio HopeFM. Bid also introduced the scriptwriters to podcasting as a platform for radio drama scripts.
